My Story
I was born and raised in Bourbon, Missouri — a small town that taught me the value of hard work, faith, and family.
Growing up with two sisters and a brother, I learned early that nothing is handed to you — you earn it.
After graduating from Bourbon High School, I became a union carpenter. At 150 pounds swinging a hammer every day, I quickly realized something important:
I didn’t just want a job…
I wanted purpose.
So I joined the U.S. Army.
I served as an Army Infantryman and deployed to Iraq in 2007–2008. The military changed me forever.
It taught me:
• Discipline
• Leadership
• Staying calm under pressure
• Taking care of the people beside you
Those lessons still guide everything I do today.
When I returned home, I went back to construction — working alongside my dad and learning every part of the trade from the ground up.
Not management.
Not theory.
The real work.
Foundations. Framing. Roofing. Remodels. Full custom homes.
Over the years, that turned into more than 20 years of hands-on experience in the construction industry.
Two decades of:
• Building houses from dirt to keys
• Managing crews and contractors
• Pricing jobs and controlling budgets
• Solving problems on the fly
• And understanding exactly were projects waste money
That experience is what most coaches don’t have — and it’s the difference between guessing and knowing.
Eventually, I started my own company, Riverside Contracting, building full homes, remodels, and anything our clients needed.
But during the slower winter months, I discovered something that changed my path.
I began guiding hunts and working with ranch owners who were building short-term rentals and guest cabins.
That’s when it clicked.
Construction was only half the equation.
Hospitality was the other half.
I saw how the right cabins, the right layout, and the right guest experience could completely transform a property’s income.
Not just a place to stay…
But an asset that prints cash flow.
I helped develop STR and micro resort projects across the country — including building out Jay Hawk Ranch near Colorado City, Texas — and learned how to design properties that don’t just look good…
They make money.
Over the last 5+ years, my family and I have built and operated our own short-term rental and micro resort projects. Today, my wife Sarah and I are developing a 7-unit lakefront micro resort where we live with our four kids.
It’s loud. It’s busy. It’s real life.
And it’s exactly why I do what I do.
Because for me, this isn’t just business.
It’s legacy.
Family and faith are everything to me. Without God and my family, none of this would exist.
And that’s why I’m obsessed with helping other families and investors build something that lasts — something that creates freedom, not stress.
